DALMONT Zenith

Forty-one millimetres across and fifteen deep. A mechanical movement needs room to turn, and the Zenith gives it that room instead of flattening the case to hide it.

Automatic caliber DD119. No battery and nothing to charge. A weighted rotor turns with the movement of your arm and winds the mainspring as the day goes on. Left in a drawer over a long weekend it will stop, and a few turns of the crown brings it back.

316L stainless steel, 41mm across and 15mm deep. The depth is the movement asking for space rather than a styling decision, and it gives the watch presence on the wrist. It wears tall under a close-fitting cuff and sits comfortably under anything looser. The hardened crystal takes the ordinary contact of a day, from doorframes to desks to keys, without carrying it forward.

The seconds hand sweeps rather than ticks, the one difference you see immediately between a mechanical movement and a quartz one. The layout stays open enough that the time reads first and the detail reads second, which is the whole point of a face you glance at twenty times a day.

Genuine leather, 22mm at the lug and 23cm long, closed with a pin buckle. The extra length leaves room on a larger wrist, and the strap changes at the spring bar when you want a different look from the same watch.
